Your subscription
How does the free trial work?
New subscribers get two weeks free. You won't be charged until the trial ends, and Hourtle reminds you before it does.
If you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, you won't be charged at all.
How do I cancel?
Subscriptions are handled by Apple, so you cancel in the Settings app rather than in Hourtle: open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, choose Hourtle and tap Cancel Subscription.
You keep everything until the end of the period you've paid for. Deleting the app or your Hourtle account doesn't cancel the subscription.
I already subscribed, but Hourtle is asking me to pick a plan
On the plans screen, tap Restore purchases. Hourtle checks with Apple and unlocks your plan.
Your subscription belongs to the Apple Account you bought it with. If this iPhone is signed in to a different one, switch to that account in the Settings app, then tap Restore purchases again.
How do I get a refund?
Apple handles payments, so refunds go through Apple too. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
App blocking
Why does Hourtle need Screen Time access?
Apple only lets an app block other apps through Screen Time, so Hourtle asks for access the first time you turn blocking on.
Hourtle can't see which apps you have or how long you use them. When you pick apps to block, iPhone keeps that list private and Hourtle only gets a sealed reference to it.
When are apps blocked, and when do they open again?
Only while a timer is running, and only for the kinds of time you've switched on under Block during. They open again as soon as you pause or the time runs out, even if Hourtle is closed.
With Wait before pausing on, pausing takes 30 seconds and can only be done in Hourtle, so it's harder to give in on a whim.
Blocking stopped working
Screen Time access may have been turned off. In Hourtle, open the Blocking tab and switch one of the Block during switches off and on again. If access is missing, Hourtle asks for it again.
Also make sure you've picked at least one app under Apps to block, and that the kind of time you're timing is switched on.
Streaks and your data
How do streaks work?
Spend at least 30 minutes on your purpose time in a day and your streak grows by one. Hourtle can remind you in the evening if you haven't yet.
Every streak trophy you win earns a streak restore. If you miss a day, you have two days to use one and keep your streak going.
Do I need an account?
No. Without one, everything stays on your iPhone. Signing in with Apple is optional and backs up your plans, streak and history, so you can get them back on a new phone or after deleting the app.
Without an account, deleting the app also deletes your data, so sign in first if you want to keep it.
How do I move to a new iPhone?
On your old iPhone, open Settings in Hourtle and sign in with Apple, which backs everything up. Then install Hourtle on the new iPhone and sign in with the same Apple Account. Your subscription comes with it automatically.
How do I delete my account?
In Hourtle, open Settings and tap Delete account. This permanently deletes your account and everything backed up to it, and clears your iPhone.
It doesn't cancel your subscription, which is billed by Apple. See How do I cancel? above.
I'm not getting reminders
Check that notifications are on for Hourtle: open the Settings app, tap Notifications, then Hourtle. Focus modes can also hold them back. You can choose which reminders you get in Hourtle's own Settings.
